Vagabond Lofts development held a rafter party
On Wednesday, 27 November, a party was held at Miston Capital’s Vagabond Loft development. The 4-storey building with an exciting history will be completed by the summer with 45 premium commercial and residential lofts.
In 2023, Miston Capital started the restoration of the old noble building, popularly known as Beti’s Barn. The building had been mostly vacant for many years. “The idea to develop a new commercial and residential development there came up while visiting the properties for sale.
When we looked out of the third-floor window, we saw the beautiful views and realised why the building was built there in the 19th century. At that moment, we realised it deserved a new chance.” Kristi Saar, Marketing Manager at Miston Capital, added that the building’s red brick façade and strong architecture were particularly appealing.
The history of the impressive building dates back to 1870, when it was first used as a linen mill, supporting the city’s rapidly expanding economy. The building has seen the passage of time and holds a wealth of colourful memories.
Miston Capital’s development is called Vagabond Lofts, inspired by the word “vagabond”, meaning traveller. “For us, it means a person who is an open-hearted adventurer and who expects something completely different and is never satisfied with mediocrity,” describes Saar, explaining for whom these special homes and commercial spaces are designed.
Rauno Loonurm, managing director of Rivest OÜ, who built the Lofts, took the floor at the ceremony, where the house was fitted with a new time capsule. It is a step that marks both an important stage in the restoration of the building and the beginning of its new era. In his speech, Rauno Loonurm stressed the importance of preserving the historical and cultural value of the building and expressed the hope that it will once again become an important part of community life in the near future.
